10 years of successful trading!

Firstly, we are celebrating ten successful years of business!

The company was formed in 2007 by Directors Chris Price, Ian Hartshorne and Phil Swinhoe at the beginning of the recession. Chris bought an empty unit in 2005 to launch his hairdressing business from, in need of a fit-out, Ian and Phil were approached to carry out the works. The trio soon became firm friends and together they formed Aptus, a company providing high quality fit-out and refurbishments throughout the UK.

The first few years were challenging, and with little money to spare the three business partners worked out of a portacabin while they built up the business. The company grew steadily each year and were eventually able to move out of the portacabin and into our current premises in Hoult’s Yard, Byker. As we approach our ten-year anniversary, business is thriving. We work with some of the UK’s best known brands as well as supplying full design and finance services to go hand-in hand with the refurbishment and fit-out in order to offer our customers a complete package.

We are also celebrating the completion of our first ever conference facility – The Birmingham Conference and Events Centre, also known as The BCEC.

A brand-new venue in the heart of the city, The BCEC encompasses over 2,000 square metres of contemporary space for corporate and private events. With the construction of sound-proof foldaway walls we have divided the venue into 24 meeting rooms, creating a versatile space which can be adapted to hold meetings, conferences and exhibitions. All meeting rooms come with free Wi-Fi and state of the art technology.

The jewel in the crown of the events centre is the Mercian Suite, which makes up the entire second floor.  It has private access, a stage, and a spring-loaded dance floor. By introducing private access, a stage, and a spring-loaded dance floor, we have created a space as flexible as it is functional. With the addition of three bars and the fit-out of the pre-function reception space, up to 750 guests can dine or 1000 people can attend a seated event. We completed the entire project in just 10 weeks in time for its official opening in November 2016.

Birmingham city has been voted as one of the most popular places for business and tourism outside London, and since the beginning of 2016 many new buildings have been constructed and older buildings re-developed, in and around the city. The Birmingham Conference and Events Centre is the latest venue to emerge out of this recent regeneration.

Aptus also offer pre-construction support services, design, build and full project finance to our clients which results in delivering projects from the very beginning, to end. As well as working with retailers, leisure firms, healthcare organisations and Universities, we work jointly on projects with architects, designers, surveyors and property consultants.
