A NORTH East firm has completed the fit-out of national retailer New Look’s largest standalone menswear store.
Newcastle-based Aptus Shopfitting was appointed to develop the UK’s largest New Look Men store, covering a 3,800 sq ft space at intu Metrocentre, Gateshead.
It is the thirteenth new UK menswear store to have been opened by New Look – and the latest in a string of projects completed by Aptus for major High Street retailers nationally.
The firm also recently completed the fit-out of its third store for schuh, one of the UK’s most prominent footwear retailers, as part of an ongoing rollout.
For New Look, Aptus converted what was previously a River Island unit opposite the retailer’s existing site into a new store with an industrial design featuring concrete, brick, steel and a 50 sq ft AV screen.
Chris Price, commercial director and co-founder of Aptus, said: “While we have been increasing the national spread of our work in recent years, it’s always great to work on big projects in our native North East. I’m sure the store will be a huge success.
“Despite talk of uncertainty following Brexit, we are seeing no signs of slowdown and we have a number of exciting new opportunities in the pipeline.”
New Look is an international retailer of apparel, footwear and accessories for women, men and teenage girls with over 800 stores in 21 countries.
Chief creative officer Roger Wightman said: “Menswear is a key strategic priority for New Look, and the opening of the menswear standalone stores represents a natural next step for us. We are very proud of the improvements made to our offer over the past two years – the opening of menswear standalone stores will allow us to more fully showcase the enhanced quality of our product ranges.”
In addition to its work with New Look, Aptus is currently refurbishing the Newcastle offices of Fairhurst – one of the largest privately owned Partnerships of Consulting Engineers in the UK.
Other recent and current projects include the delivery of the new Birmingham Conference & Events Centre as well as leisure developments within the new development at intu Eldon Square, Newcastle.
As well as working with retailers, leisure firms, healthcare organisations and Universities. Aptus works jointly on projects with architects, designers, surveyors and property consultants.
