Aptus has completed the Cat B fit out of the North East headquarters for technology group Orchard.
Newcastle-based Aptus, which specialises in fit-outs and refurbishments of commercial properties, has transformed Orchard’s new offices at Central Square, as part of the firm’s £1m investment in its new home. Previously the fast-growing technology company, which employs around 200 people and, in 2015, had annual sales of £16m, was based at Kings Manor on the outskirts of the city centre.
Aptus refurbished the entire third floor of Central Square for Orchard, turning what was a tired office which had been empty for several years, into an ultra-modern technology hub.
Stand-out features of the new office include over 1,500m2 of open plan, break out areas, meeting rooms, an innovation suite, café and boulevard reception complete with eight life size trees through the office. Aptus won the contract on the back of its work with Bede Gaming last year when the software firm moved its operations and 175+ staff from Gosforth to Newcastle Great Park.
Orchard Systems Managing Director, Ian Shard commented: “We were very impressed with Aptus from the outset. They delivered on their promise to deliver a first class refurbishment on time and to budget. They have helped us create a first class working environment for the Orchard Team that has already improved productivity and communication throughout our business. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to others embarking on similar transformational projects.”
Alongside office refurbishments and fit-outs, Aptus works nationally with retailers including schuh, which selected the firm to assist in its roll-out of its new concept stores in a deal worth at least £2m. As part of that contract, the business has so far developed stores in Harrow and Newport, with more likely to follow throughout 2016 and 2017.
Other recent projects include fit-outs of a Pizza Express restaurant in Manchester and Hays Travel’s new flag ship store in the Metrocentre.
Commercial director and co-founder Chris Price said: “There appears to be an increasing number of organisations within the tech sector confidently investing in The North East, office fit-out projects in this sector has generated over £1M in sales for Aptus in eighteen months including an exciting new start up by eCommerce developers Moltin who appointed Aptus to deliver a design and build office at Carliol Square, Newcastle ”
As well as retailers, leisure firms, healthcare organisations and employers, it works jointly on projects with architects, designers, surveyors and property consultants.
