- Client – Northumberland College
- Project type – Refurbishment of reception and communal areas
- Location – Ashington, Northumberland
- Duration – 9 weeks
- Completion – February 2020
In November 2019 we were appointed to undertake a comprehensive refurbishment of the reception and communal areas at Northumberland College in Ashington, following the announcement of a multi-million pound investment programme by the college.
We won the project following a competitive tender process via Hollis’ Newcastle office, who were acting as Project Managers.
Northumberland College is one of the North East’s leading FE and HE establishments with a number of campuses throughout the region.
We refurbished 3,500 sq ft of space including the main reception area for the building and associated communal areas. The works transformed the space to give it a much more modern feel and to help future proof the building.
The space was designed by NORR Consultant Architects and included a new bespoke reception desk and area with a timber louvre feature wall, disabled access lift installation, new WC’s.
The project was finished to an excellent standard on time and within budget, to the delight of the client. We worked to a tight 9-week build programme to get the project completed within the agreed time frame to minimise disruption to college students during term time.
“Further to our conversation earlier today can I just state what a fabulous experience working alongside APTUS has been from a customer perspective. Nothing has been too much trouble, the customer always appears to come first and the attitude of your Site Manager has been amazing. As you’ve probably gathered I like things right and can be quite finicky, however, after watching the way Mick operates I’ve relaxed my approach as I know he too will not settle for second best and takes immense pride in the job he’s managing.
I wish all contractors we employed adopted a similar approach to that demonstrated by APTUS and I’m now looking forward to the next time APTUS are on site and undertaking another project at either Northumberland College, Sunderland College or Hartlepool 6th Form College.”
